New Music - Short Hair

Miley Cyrus has officially signed with RCA, and is working on a new album. The new music will be released in late 2013. This marks Miley's first album outside the Disney umbrella, so many people are expecting it to be different. MTV has all the details.

Also Miley has told E! News that she will never have long hair again. She likes keeping it short and will have short hair forever. "You will never see me with long hair again! My fiancé loves it... It's so easy and I don't need to wash it. It looks better grungy and not washing it."

Miley Sings on Ellen - February 6, 2012

Miley Cyrus was the musical guest today on the Ellen show. She performed her new Bob Dylan cover song You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go with Johnzo West.



I think Miley's voice fits this song perfectly. Great performance.

I've been away from the blog for a while so I didn't get a chance to post this earlier, but here is Miley's homemade video in support of the Occupy (Wall Street and worldwide) protesters, using Liberty Walk as the background music.

Rumor - Miley to perform in VMA Britney Tribute

Although it's just a rumor, Miley Cyrus could be performing in a Britney Spears tribute at the 2011 MTV VMA Awards.

The rumor has Miley singing "I’m A Slave 4 U" with a snake draped around her neck. She then would join Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato in singing Britney's song "3".

The entire tribute is rumored to be eight minutes long to start the awards show. It would also feature Katy Perry, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Britney herself. The goal of the tribute is to get people talking the next day, similar to some of Britney's VMA performances have done in the past.

The 2011 MTV VMA Awards are August 28th at 9pm /8pm central.

So The World May Hear Awards Gala

Miley Cyrus attended the So The World May Hear Awards Gala in St. Paul, Minnesota on July 24, 2011. The event benefits the Starkey Hearing Foundation. Miley performed at the event, and talked about what hearing means to her on the red carpet. Miley also met Marlee Matlin, one of the biggest supporters of the foundation.

Fan Rushes Stage at Miley Cyrus Concert

A potentially scary moment for Miley happened in Australia in Melbourne as a fan came on stage to greet her. I don't think the fan was trying anything malicious, but Miley's security team took action immediately, grabbing the fan and taking Miley to safety.

Weird Al - Party in the CIA

Weird Al Yankovic will be parodying the Miley Cyrus song Party in the USA on his upcoming album ALpocalypse, which will be released on June 21st.

The Weird Al version will be Party in the CIA.

Yankovic also will be spoofing Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga on the album.

Gypsy Heart Tour Begins in Ecuador

Miley Cyrus kicked off her new Gypsy Heart Tour in Quito, Ecuador. As you can see from the pictures there are quite a few costume changes and background dancers. It looks like quite a production.

Miley will mix up Set List

In a recent Australian newspaper article from the Daily Mail, Miley Cyrus revealed that she will be doing a lot of experimenting with the set list of the songs that she and her band will be playing. It looks like Miley will have a lot of freedom of what songs she wants to sing on the upcoming tour. She wants to do a lot of covers, along with some of the more random, non-hit songs from her albums.

"I have a bunch of Nirvana songs I can do. My band is freaking out. They have to learn every song by every artist I like because they never know what song I'll throw at them. This tour might be a mess but it'll be fun."

I definitely like the idea that Miley can play any song she wants on any given night. Every concert will be a different experience from night to night. Miley doing cover songs is also something that will be cool to see at each concert. I think that Miley has a voice that is pretty versatile for singing different types of songs and music.

Miley not Comfortable Touring the USA?

I'm guessing this quote has been taken out of context, and it's probably being blown out of proportion, but Miley had some comments as to why she won't be touring the USA this summer:

"I just think right now America has gotten to a place where I don't know if they want me to tour or not. Right now I just want to go to the places where I am getting the most love and Australia and South America have done that for me. Kind of going to the places where I get the most love. Don't want to go anywhere where I don't feel completely comfortable with it."

I wonder what Miley means about not being comfortable. I'm sure she is still a huge draw in the USA and would have no problems selling out venues, so it must be something else. Maybe she's gotten tired of the haters and paparazzi in the US? She probably wants to tour different places and right now a global tour makes more sense.

Miley's 2011 South American Tour is apparently being called the "Corazon Gitano Tour" which I'm told translates to "Gipsy Heart Tour."

South America Tour Dates

Miley Cyrus has announced the first few dates of her 2011 South American Tour. More dates will be announced soon. The dates were announced at Miley's official facebook page. Check that for the latest dates.

April 29, Quito Ecuador at Estadio Olimpico Atahualpa. Tickets on-sale Saturday, March 26 @ 12:00 pm.

May 1, Lima Peru at Explanada del Monumental. Tickets on-sale Wednesday, March 23rd @ 09:00 am.
