Bret Michaels talks about Miley Cyrus
In an Entertainment Weekly article, Bret Michaels talked about working with Miley Cyrus. Miley is covering the Poison hit Every Rose Has Its Thorn for her new album, and she also sang on Bret's new song Nothing To Lose.
There was some controversy about the lyrics for Nothing To Lose being too mature for Miley. Michaels talked about that controversy and what it was like to work with Miley:
Some time ago, Michaels happened to be working on his album Custom Built (due July 6) in the same recording studio as Cyrus. When she offered to sing harmony on “Nothing to Lose,” he agreed right away. “I guess in hindsight I should have looked more at the maturity of the song,” Michaels concedes. “But she was never singing it to me, so I never thought about it. It got really controversial for no reason, and it’s kind of a bummer, because it took it away from how beautiful the song really is.”
Gossip or not, he’s happy to sing his duet partner’s praises. “I will say this about Miley,” Michaels adds. “She can sit down at the piano or with a guitar and she can sing and she can play. I think she’s going through that transitional period where you are going from a kid to a teenager to an adult, and that’s a tough transition. I think she’s one of the few musicians that can actually do it.”

Can't Be Tamed debuts at #8
The Miley Cyrus song Can't Be Tamed exploded onto the Billboard Hot 100 at Number 8 when the chart was announced this morning.
This compares similarly to Miley's other high debuting singles on the Hot 100. Party in the USA opened at #2. The Climb debuted at #6. Seven Things opened at #85, but quickly made its way up the chart eventually making it into the top 10.
I wonder how high Can't Be Tamed can make it on the chart. It really hasn't getting much radio airplay yet, so if that kicks in, combined with album sales, the song might be able to climb pretty high. Could it be Miley's first ever #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100?

Can't Be Tamed hits Digital Songs chart at #4
Can't Be Tamed looks like it's already a hit. The song will debut at #4 on the Billboard Digital Songs chart, and it likely to also debut in the top 10 on the Hot 100 chart.
the highest debut on the Digital Songs chart this week comes from Miley Cyrus with her new single "Can't Be Tamed." The song struts in at No. 4 with a 191,000 bow. It's her second-best debut sales week for a download, following "Party in the U.S.A.," which entered at No. 1 on Digital Songs last August with 226,000.
"Tamed's" opener will probably lock up a top 10 debut for the single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart when it's unveiled on Thursday (27) morning. If it bows as expected, it will be Cyrus' sixth top 10 hit on the sales/airplay-hybrid Billboard Hot 100 (including one credited to her TV character "Hannah Montana").

Ryan Seacrest Loves Party In The USA - Simon Cowell Doesn't
Ryan Seacrest was interviewing Simon Cowell about Simon's last show on American Idol. Simon told a story about when he knew he wanted to leave the show, and it indirectly involved Miley Cyrus:
"I actually remember we were on a plane one afternoon and I knew I was going to be sitting with you for six hours and at one point, I'm not exaggerating, you were listening to Miley Cyrus. So I'm listening to you listening to Miley Cyrus' 'Party in the U.S.A.' You know when someone's got headphones on and they sort of sing out of tune and really loud? And you played it five times in a row, and I thought then, I actually can't do this anymore."
"So really we blame Miley Cyrus?" Ryan asked.
"No, we blame you for singing Miley Cyrus...that was the turning point."
